Personally I agree with the framing initially, which I interpret to be another way of positing the key aspect of relations to be top/down and not the various ideological editions (I've become more vocal about the illusion of left/right, but it's like shouting in the wind: people are evermore stuck in the my vs your team bs).
I'm not sure I agree with the historical analysis beyond the last millennia. In the sense I'm of the opinion history didn't begin in 4k BC and I think the hunter-gatherer model often referred to is more of a narrative than reality, as produced by credentialed academia because reasons. I can countenance good Kings have existed, but they probably were a tiny minority of the total. It's an interesting topic.
The other opinion is anarchist ideologies, like its libertarian mirror, has much to be agreed with until we get to practical matters, then it falls apart in my opinion. I think the best examples of ideal scenarios come to us from anthropologists who highlight the few remaining groups who have inbuilt inside their cultures the redistribution of resources because they recognize inequality creates an unhealthy society leading to power struggles. I know what I write next will sound terrible and is a non-starter for many reasons, but I think the Venetian city state solved many issues plaguing modern politics.
